Forming an LLC in Washington State
This content was derived from an eHow article. All basic forms can be found and completed online, but consulting with an attorney is never a bad idea to make sure that you have completed everything necessary to do business in your location.
Basic Process:
- Check to make sure that your name is not already registered or trademarked.
- Check the list of Washington Corporations at: http://www.sos.wa.gov/corps/corps_search.aspx
- Check US trademarks at: http://tess2.uspto.gov/
- Google your proposed name to make sure there aren't similar entities already operating under that name.
- Register your corporation name with the Secretary of State
- Complete the Master Business Application (MBA) with the WA Dept. of Licensing
- This application also includes a number of other registrations and permits based on the type of business you are planning.
- Register with your locality (City, County), if applicable
- The MBA provides access to some City and County registrations, but not all (Seattle is not on the list)
- Seattle business licenses can be completed at: https://dea.seattle.gov/self/Account/Login/selfHome.aspx
- The MBA provides access to some City and County registrations, but not all (Seattle is not on the list)
